Forge a connection to the wider world and acknowledge the critical interdependence of nature and human nature

Marlborough Gallery. Deep within a cavernous art gallery, a skylight was cut to reconnect people with the sky. The idea was to subtly guide people’s attention to their experience of being human on this planet, as they felt the sun overhead. The individual may not be able to articulate this, but just feeling it is enough.

Sebastian takes cues from the surrounding environment and incorporates disparate elements as often as possible, sowing connection between cultural, historic, and natural elements. He believes that nature has the power to give us pause, affirm and calm our senses, and allow us to feel connected to the wider world. Nature is both powerful and positive.

A skylight removes barriers between gallery attendees and the sun overhead, reconnecting people with their humanness.
